Young-Hunter, John
Born in Glasgow, John Young-Hunter (1874-1955) was the son of artists Colin and Mary Young Hunter.
Taught by John Singer Sargent at the Royal Academy schools, Young-Hunter travelled extensively after his studies, a wanderlust which would never leave him.
Primarily a portrait painter, his highly stylised works owe much to the Pre-Raphaelites. His final years were spent in America and he died in Taos, New Mexico, an area known for its colony of artists including Georgia O'Keefe.
His works are held in the Tate Gallery, The Wellcome Collection and Dundee Art Gallery amongst many others.
