Salmon, Robert

Robert Salmon (1775-1840)  was a marine painter whose work largely focused on the Firth of Clyde in the 1820s.  In 1828 he emigrated to Boston in the United States of America, changing his name to Salmon in the process.

The image shown here is 'American Ship in Lamlash, 1836' depicting a flotilla of ships in choppy waters, with the peak of Goatfell in the background.
