Rennie, George Melvin

Born in Macduff, George Melvin Rennie (1874-1953) was a Scottish painter who worked in a wide variety of media, including oil, watercolour, pastel, charcoal, pencil, pen and ink. He was educated at Grays school of Art.


He is largely known for his landscape work, however he also depicted fishing scenes. Setting up a studio in Braemar in 1924, he tended to favour his native Aberdeenshire, especially the Grampians, however also depicted Ayrshire, Arran and Argyll. He specialised in  landscape painting.
